I miss the CSA. In an effort to console myself on a rainy Sunday, I made pho for lunch and this is how it went: chicken broth and fish sauce in a pan on low; garlic, lime juice, crushed ginger, coriander seeds, cayenne pepper. Rice noodles for 6 minutes in boiling water. Shredded raw broccoli stems and carrots in heated broth, wait a minute. Noodles in the bowl, broth and veg over top, cilantro and mung bean sprouts stuck in the side. A lime squeeze. Ah.

Allston rock city is now a giant living room. Somehow not as endearing as last season.

Russ Cohen explains the identification of jewelweed (as soon as my monthly upload quota gets renewed).
BU CAS rooftop greenhouse and home for hopeless houseplants. Built in the 1960s and used only once every other semester by a GIS class for a 6-week stint, the glass house in the sky has become a repository for miscellaneous apartment plants on the verge of death. Despite recent bouts of vandalism, the vibe is up, the views are sick, and it smells like the good earth in here.
